Former Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Doug MacLean is now a lock for the hockey hall of fame.
It’s not because of his ability to craft winning teams — far from it. It’s because of his contributions to the fight against Big Corsi.
MacLean took to the radio today to deliver a blow to this insidious beast, offering up this piping hot take:
“Guys who can do Corsi and Fenwick.”
See, MacLean is a simple man who doesn’t care much for the kids these days with their cellular telephones and Corsis and Fenwicks and skateboards and rap music. He pines for the days when good old Canadian boys sat around just shooting the shit about hockey without any idea of what the hell they are talking about.
And in case you Corsi heads need a reminder, that ridiculous statistic isn’t everything:
See numbers can’t skate on the ice and score goals. People forget that, and Doug MacLean is just sending out a friendly reminder.
When one of the best general managers in the history of the game calls out Big Corsi, you know it’s bound to hurt.
